MTNL IPTV service providing 74 channels now
As per incoming information, MTNL is now going to provide as many as 74 channels through their recently launched IPTV service.
The initial launch had just around 26 free-to-air channels on offer.
The company has signed up a deal with Time Broadband Services and its Israeli partner Optibase who would now develop and handle the content delivery network for its IPTV services.
They are currently using Optibase’s IPTV MGW 5100 platforms for its digital IPTV head-end operation at the company’s network operating centre.
Time Broadband is now preparing to deploy IPTV services on both TV & PC delivery. They plan to offer this service to various service providers throughout the country.
Time Broadband Services’ MD Sujata Dev spoke on this new development: “During the initial deployment, Optibase demonstrated their extensive IPTV know-how relating to H.264 AVC. We were impressed by the quality of the Optibase solution and the superior level of service. Therefore we decided to select the Optibase MGW 5100 integrated digital head ends for the full-scale commercial launch.”
Optibase CFO Danny Lustiger added: “We are delighted with the success of our first installation of Time Broadband at MTNL Delhi Network and look forward to a long-term collaboration with our globally eminent CDN partners, driving the large scale deployment of IPTV in India.”

I will not recommend IOL IPTV to anyone. MTNL has cheated us. The service quality and the service is very poor. Pls do not opt for IPTV.
