Motorola launches homegrown C115 mobile phone in India
India is the world’s fastest growing mobile market and the top mobile phone companies are targeting the consumer with cheaper and more value for money products. Nokia, Samsung, and Motorola all have plans to establish production units locally. And Motorola has in fact come out with first of the many units being developed in India itself.
Motorola has launched their model C115 model in the Indian market and it is priced very competitively at around USD 37. In India rupees, the cost come around 1700 bucks and as per reports the company plans to offer the mobile along with free talktime worth Rs 700 to bring the effective cost to around Rs. 1000 for the end consumer.
Indian budget mobile segment forms the biggest chunk of mobile sales in India and Nokia, which holds more than 50% market share in the country, primarily dominates it. Motorola trails the company in worldwide sales as well but plans to do well in this market. Firdose Vandrevala, chief of Motorola India said in a statement: “We’re looking at reducing costs further. We want to play a meaningful role in achieving the national target.”
Manufacturing these phones locally is certainly going to help the company bring the prices down for the end consumer.
