airtel Broadband does the unthinkable. Forcing old customers to switch to new plans.
airtel has been working seriously hard to destroy their entire reputation of being a good internet service provider.
It all started the day they decided to launch something called Fair Usage Policy. It was not that bad in the beginning. 100GB limit was fairly decent.
But in the last couple of months they have become awful in nature. None of their current plans have purely unlimited data transfer limits with speeds that are highlighted with the plans.
All of their plans fall down to 256kbps after a certain limit is reached. The limits are pretty bad. From what I remember, the best plan had a limit of 50GB.
Anyways… airtel broadband customers on older plans were somewhat on the safer side as they still retained their old plan limits.
That is set to change now. Airtel has started informing the customers on older plans that they would have to switch to one of their newer plans in the near future. The old plans are retired and hence would not be available to ANYONE.

So, if you are on a real old plan that has worked fine for you all this time… your time is up. You would have to pick from one of their current plans. Or leave.
I bet a lot of us would be rethinking our decision to stick around with airtel in the coming weeks. They have simply gone crazy.

Such things happen all the time. If they are phasing out old plans what other option one can have ??

LikeWell, the problem largely is that Airtel has never forced a user to switch from a discontinued plan. People have stayed on discontinued plan for years just because they were comfortable with their original plan.

LikeYeah, but I like that stuff like this is happening. I *want* better speeds to be there overall, and for plans like 256kbps and lower plans to die out.
The sooner we have 256kbps and below plans die out, the sooner we'll have plans which support faster speeds, which is desperaely needed nowadays.
