Tata DOCOMO launches Live Chat. Does not work in Google Chrome.
Tata DoCoMo has been one of the most innovative mobile service providers to have arrived on the scene in the Indian market.
The company can be easily credited for bringing a fresh price war in the country and almost everyone has benefited as a result.
Tata DoCoMo has just launched their latest customer support service named Live Chat.
As the name suggest, it allows you to connect to a Tata DoCoMo customer care representative online. You can get your queries resolved and get other form of support.
Tata DoCoMo is using CRM solutions provided by Talisma. It is a good initiative but with a very weird problem.
We tried checking it out on own end. Sadly, the service failed to work as it does not ‘support Google Chrome’.
Here are the web browsers officially supported by the service:
On Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98 and Windows 95:
Internet Explorer version 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0
Netscape version 6,7.0,7.1
Netscape Communicator version 4.7
Mozilla Firefox version 1.0.4, 2.x, 3.0On Windows XP:
Internet Explorer version 6.0, 7.0, 8.0On Mac OS:
Internet Explorer version 5.0, 5.5
Netscape version 6.1
Netscape Communicator version 4.7
Right… As you can see, the browser detection script Talisma is using is pretty ancient. It does offer support for Mozilla Firefox 3 thankfully (not on Windows XP though). But if we are to believe these requirements, they have no love for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. They also have no love for Apple Safari and Google Chrome users. And of course, Linux users are totally ignored.
We request Tata DoCoMo to get this glitch rectified. We bet there are some mobile users in India who are on Linux or who prefer to use Apple Safari or Google Chrome.

LikeOn Mac OS:
Internet Explorer version 5.0, 5.5
Netscape version 6.1
Netscape Communicator version 4.7
|-> you got to be kidding me . There was no support for IE on Mac from the past couple of years . Secondly, the current generation never heard about Netscape and I dont think there is one for the Mac OS X .
What happened to Windows Vista and Windows 7 . Tata was supposed to release this probably about 8 years back especially for the list of supported browsers they have announced. May be they do not want customers for their service, but want it as a feature for some VP asked for the same.
