Aircel Cellular to invest USD 5 billion in India in coming years
Aircel Cellular has been making news with their television ad featuring Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The company has now announced their plans to invest another USD 5 billion in the country for expansion.
Malaysian telecom major Maxis Communications is the majority stake holder in the company and they are aiming to become a major player in the Indian market.
They have just launched their operations in the Mumbai city.
Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh said in a statement: “We have planned $5 billion investment for financial years 2010, 2011 and 2012 for expansion of operations. We are planning to commence operations in five additional circles. A good amount of investment will be made in existing circles also.”
