Airtel Broadband 16 mbps plans with 20/50GB data transfer limits!
Airtel Broadband has launched 16mbps broadband plans in the Indian market.
The company claims that this new plan is the fastest Wireline Broadband on DSL in the Country.
They have two plans on offer:
Rs. 2999 with a 20GB data transfer limit
Rs. 4999 with a 50GB data transfer limit
This service is powered with company’s Carrier Ethernet Network.
It is currently available in limited regions in Delhi NCR, Chennai and Bangalore.
They are soon going to launch it in other areas like Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Kolkata.
K Srinivas, Joint President, Telemedia Services, Bharti Airtel spoke at the launch of this new plan: “Airtel has constantly strived to innovate and deliver high quality products to its broadband customers. We are the leading private broadband service provider in the country and pioneered 8 Mbps broadband. It gives us great pleasure now to be able to introduce the fastest, wired broadband service on DSL. We will be able to offer 16 Mbps broadband to 70% of the households in the 3 cities of Delhi NCR, Chennai and Bangalore.”
We would just like to inform potential Airtel customers here that at 16mbps speeds, 20GB data transfer can be done in less than 3 hours. So, use wisely if you go for this connection.

Likehey ppl,
dont u have self esteem. airtel (andra pradesh) has several plans. one among them is 1299 inr for a 2 mbps. the cap is 20 gb.
a school child will find the 20 gigs exhausted in 3 days. a network guy will say that even if u didnt have single page open, just the empty packets transferred between your modem and the server would exhaust the 20 gigs in 3 days.
added to this airtel would reduce the speed from 2 mbps to a paltry 256kbps for the rest of the month. imagine yourself shifted out of an ac first coach to the un reserved coach for the rest of the journey.
wake up indian broad band users
grow up airtel

LikeRight now I have a 42 GB of data to download...with my current ISP plan i.e. 512kps night unlimited..it will take me atleast a month to download all that!
I am gonna buy this 5000 plan of airtel...download alll that I need within a day or two...and be done with it! instead of spending over a month worth of time just on downloading!!!
though airtel sucks...! damn loser company!
I will save enormous time, electricity, money and power. plus can use my computer for some real work! :-)
I love airtel...though it sucks with all that money involved in this SCAM...!
Lets pray bro...we soon see 16 mbps unlimted 24/7 for 1000 INR!!! :D

Likethey should make this plan unlimited at this price or atleast start giving 1,2 or 4 Mbps unlimited below 1000 Rs, limited data transfer plans r just a waste and r of no use to most of internet users, True broadband is only when there is no broadband cap and everything is unlimited, India still ranks 115th at internet speed and is far behind the developed world, shame on india, they should start giving high speed internet and stop giving limited plans, make it unlimited

LikeMay be we should not India with US where Verizon recently launched 20 Mbps Up/Down based on Fiber for US$ 70. But this plan totally sucks. When will the Indian ISPs stop sucking us high and dry?
I'm happy with BSNL's 500C with 2 mbps and night unlimited. Waiting for the day when they will launch 2 mbps unlimited for Rs. 2000. (If I can get 6 hrs. unlimited + 175 free calls + landline rental for Rs. 500, why not 24 hrs. unlimited for Rs. 2000 ??)

LikeBloody and utter rubbish.
This plan will sozzle out soon enough, as it should. Who are they joking?
I use up 300 gb per month on a semi unlimited plan which offers me 9 to 9 free time at a speed of 40 kbps.
They expect users to limit themselves to 20 gb / 50 gb with a 16 mbps line??!
Just utter rubbish, I can't believe this, its more like cheating the unlucky customers who don't have proper knowledge about data usage policies etc.
Add to the mix Airtel's proposed Fair Usage Policy and we have the perfect recipe for customers to shift base to a better Broadband service :D

LikeIt is going to take another 20 ( or atleast 22 ) years to reach India to High speed internet Era with reasonable tariffs. In UK an 8MB line costs 21GBP per month.
All these internet companies just bluff on the speed !!

expecting for the days wen we get unlimited at 2Mbps speed..
another news i heard is, in USA they hav introduced speed upto 1Tbps... that is they measure it in terms of tera bytes per second... gosh where r they gng...

it says they are getting fiber backbone and then last mile via copper wire..
why copper wire.. why not get the fiber cable to home?
Hi Mahantech
Fiber cable to every home is not possible because joining just two fiber cables will cost thousands of rupees

it says they are getting fiber backbone and then last mile via copper wire..
why copper wire.. why not get the fiber cable to home?
ofcourse the initial cost will be more but its worth it over the years.
and then make a 100+mbps with unlimited data transfers, like in many other countries (Hong kong China, Japan, Korea, Sweden ..)

Likeindian broadband service providers can take a lot of steps which would ensure reliable connectivity in the future.
but sadly, they are probably betting on wireless technologies which would require less spending on the infrastructure by them.

Likethis is why i will never change my bsnl plan. the speed may not be 16 mbps but i am happy enough with the unlimited plan. They are cheap and well worth it. downloads @256 kbps take longer time but atleast you get it done and moreover you can keep downloading 24x7. Airtel's offer has 'Danger!!!!' sign written all over it. 20 GB and 50 GB limits @16 mbps is plainly ridiculous. And who knows how much they will charge over that limit. Furthermore that limit is of data transfer ie upload+download. You can surf for a few hours and use up a significant part of that limit.
